Providence by Cody Daigle Directed by Ian Crawford WITH: Anthony Crep, Kathryn Ekblad, Aly Wirth and Douglas Scott Sorenson as Mark When Mark loses his best friend Sarah in a tragic plane crash destined for Providence, Rhode Island, he reaches out to the only other person he knew from the crash—Neil, who also lost a loved one. Conflict arises when Neil asserts that his grief is deeper—because he lost his wife and Mark only lost a friend. In the end, both men confront their sorrow and learn, despite their differences, to respect and appreciate their common bond. "PROVIDENCE courageously tackles serious matters...Sophisticated and sharp humor keeps (it) tolerable, and a talented cast presents the complexity of multi-faceted characters with seeming ease. " "...Director Ian Crawford (does) a fantastic job of keeping the plot going by melding the past with the present. Take a chance on PROVIDENCE – you won't be disappointed." -- Laurie Lawson, eljnyc.com/offbway "...exceptional performances from all four actors in this true ensemble piece..." "...Sorenson is terrific as the neurotic and nuanced Mark—and watching (Crep & Sorenson) onstage is a clinic in teamwork." "There is nothing that I can recommend more to a theatergoer than to go to Providence, and see for yourself." -- Josh Sherman, NYTheatre.com "Every moment of this play feels immediate and real" "Sorenson shows great range with his character and has terrific chemistry with Eckblad." "All four actors are to be commended for their splendid work...The only thing that isn't crisp, that is messy and oh so real, is the raw emotion and power provided by Sorenson, Crep, Ekblad, and Wirth." "This taut, emotional play about love, guilt, and resilience is not to be missed." - Byrne Harrison, Stage Buzz Kathryn Ekblad and I were interviewed for PROVIDENCE on The Broadway Bullet. |
